Overview of Bengkulu Province

Situated between 101.01 and 103.46 East Longitudes and 2.16 and 5.31 South latitudes with an area of 1,978,870 Ha.
Eastern part of the province constitutes a mountain region while the western part is a coastal region.
Various types of tropical flora are found in this region with economic values and are rare, for example Rafflesia Arnoldi flower, Vanda Hookeraina orchid, Carcass flower, Merbabu wood . and the fauna: Elephant, tiger, siamang (gibbon), crocodile, tapir, wild buffalo, deer and turtle.

The Tourism Objects

Raflesia Arnoldi, The Giant Flower
Raflesia Arnoldi flower was firstly found during British colonialism in Bengkulu by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffless the Governor General and Dr. Arnoldi, a botanist expert, at Lubuk Tapi Bengkulu Selatan Regency, in 1818. The diameter of this flower could reach approximately 100cm (the biggest flower in the world ever seen). Its blooming period is around 8 months and to make it much more incredible is that it grows without trunks and leaves.

Panjang Beach
A beautiful beach screth along the coast of Bengkulu, 7km long. It is covered by wonderful white sand and natural pine growth easily reached. It is a good choice for you to visit while enjoying your holiday.

Jakat Beach
Jakat beach is located in the west coast of Bengkulu city.

Tapak Padri
Tapak Padri is located on the sea side of Jakat beach. It is a hilly site and above it, we can enjoy the beauty of Jakat beach. In the afternoon, we can enjoy the beauty of sunset from this place.

Fort Malborough
As a British colonialist heritage, Malborough locates in the main street of Bengkulu. Inside the building, there is a subway connected to the outside. It was established by East Indian Company (EIC) in 1713-1919 under Governor General Joseph Callet and as the secound strongest for built by British in the eastern after Fort George in Madras, India.

Tikus Island
This island is located in the western direction from the Bengkulu municipality. It can be reach by a motor boat or other sea transport in one hour. This island is included in Bengkulu marine tourism objects. For those who like fishing, this location is very good because the vicinity of this island has sufficient fish while its sea corral is very beautiful.

Danau Dendam Tak Sudah (Everlasting Revenge) Lake
Protected water orchid flower is found in this lake. It is Vanda Hookeriana. Many resident fish in this lake and rowing the dugout.

Pasar Bawah Manna Beach
This beach is one of the tourism objects in the capital of South Bengkulu (Manna). Every afternoon, and holidays is flocked with tourist and residents.
